Sites in Northern Ireland

Sometimes we hear comments about how The Camping and Caravanning Club only has one site in Northern Ireland (Delamont Club Site).  There are actually six sites!  Delamont is our only club site, but in addition to Delamont, we have five beautifully maintained Certified Sites (or CS’s as they’re known).  These sites are purely for members of Club and have spaces for 5 caravans or motorhomes and space for tent campers.

These sites are well spread throughout the province, so check them out below and let us know how you get on.

Portrush Easter Rally 2017

Even though the weather wasn’t as kind as it might have been, we had one of the biggest Easter turnouts at Portrush.  With over 60 units over the weekend, the sites officer was very close to hanging a “Site Full” sign on the front gate.

The Wii bowling on Friday night was a great success with children (young and old – 8-80) enjoying strikes, spares, turkeys and of course the dreaded gutter!  Thanks to Billy Senior and John for organising and marshalling the fun.

Saturday afternoon’s Easter crafts and Sunday’s Disco and Easter Egg Hunt meant the children were well entertained thanks to Cherrie (our Youth Leader).

Saturday evening’s Country and Western night brought out a wide range of entertaining costumes and the adults were well fed by Rosie and her team and thoroughly entertained by Paul.

Sunday evening brought karaoke to Portrush and lets just say the X-Factor contestants needn’t worry too much, but we all had great fun – thanks again Paul.

Monday evening ensured that even though the children were on Easter holiday, their brains would still be active with a children’s quiz, followed by a “blow the cobwebs” version for the adults by Julia and Simon.  Hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

Thanks also go to John Ritchie and his team for getting us all safely on and off the site and looking after the facilities. Special thanks go to non-committee members who helped with the Stewarding and cleaning etc. I’m not going to embarrass anyone by naming them, but the DA is indebted to these members who are always there to help.

Thanks again from us all.

Castlewellan March 2017

A great weekend in Castlewellan with the celebration of wee Billy’s 6th Birthday taking centre stage on Saturday lunchtime.  The events shelter was put up just in case the Northern Irish weather didn’t assist, but the sun shone and we enjoyed great food, great company, happy kids and enough Lego to build another Courtyard!

Thanks to Cherrie and Rosie for the efforts they put in to making it a great impromptu get together.

Delamont March 2017

Our first big meet of 2017 was a great success with 36 units making the trip.  Downpatrick hosted a great St. Patrick’s day parade on Friday with a few of us enjoying the steam train from Inch Abbey as a means of avoiding the traffic!

Cherrie (our Youth Leader) organised some activities for the Juniors on Saturday afternoon and a great time was had by all with 3 legged races, egg and spoon races and Easter card making among the highlights.
